Why Staying Silent isn’t always an option

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

How does your soul yearn to express itself? Consider that for a moment. Can you answer authentically, truthfully.

It is vital for us to speak up and speak out when we are urged to do so by the source (that pure, vital energy within). How many times have we been in group situations or in community where we have suppressed the words that wish to come forth. We suppress convincing ourselves we are not contributing to anything, someone else has said/done it already, that we are being judgmental or that the words won’t vibrate as we wish.

Yes we have all been there.

Of course it is not everything that rises within us that we must speak. We do have to discern whether it will add to the conversation or context and whether it is coming from that pure essence as before mentioned, or if it is from the ego – that meddling voice in our heads that has something to prove.

The link to health

Importantly and fundamentally, using our voice is vital for our wellness.

As a child, I used my voice fully in the home (and apparently singing on the bus). As I remember, when I was upset about something, or perceived an injustice I would voice it in the hope that something would be done. This, created in me an inner environment of expressing into the world that things were not right or as they should be or as I wished them to be. This energy is never uplifting for our inner or outer environment. I had hard and painful work to do to change this learned pattern of behaviour.

I was also challenged by immobilisation when I was outside of the familiarity of the family home. I would clam up, not able to speak authentically – always second-guessing myself and scared to communicate. Many times I would freeze when spoken to or when having to navigate a new environment. This created illness because I locked my truth within on the one hand and then on the other, I was speaking only negative vibrations.

I now understand the importance of maintaining a level of vibration, frequency or energy (call it what you will) that will create an aura around me and everyone I come into contact with. Whatever is within you is felt out in the world – the earth and the environment actually feels it.

So when we express, we need to aim to vibrate from a high-level of consciousness – having an awareness of Self.

The Throat Chakra

When we express with conscious awareness, we energise the energies in our throat area – one of our vital energy points in the body. And when the energies are positively strengthened – we heal our bodies and therefore the vibrations around us.

The throat energies can be opened and strengthened by many different forms of expression – so long as it is true and coming from your soul essence. Dance, music, writing, speaking, talking (positively), humming, drumming – these are all beneficial to a healthy throat, voice, expression.

Gossiping, back-biting, jealous behaviour all damage or inhibit the throat energies. Feeling stagnant? Perhaps look at how you are vibrating in these areas of your life.

All energies are connected within the body – but specifically the throat and our sexual expression have a direct connection. If the throat is locked down, know that your sexual energy will be also and quite often vice versa. The energy centre of our sacral (sexual) point is our lower creativity. The throat translates to our higher creativity.

So dance more, listen to music, play an instrument, sing, write.

Almost every morning I dance. I put on music that I like and free form. I have always loved to dance and when I freestyle it comes from an intuitive place – I feel it and I smile and fully enjoy the moment of movement.

Try different ways of expression. We are here to make mistakes and learn from them. Eventually you will discover your way. Heal yourself and you help to heal the world. Find your true voice and use it.

Thank you Ama for sharing. Yes it can take courage to express but when we know that is healing us and others - how can we not!
